About "The Mighty Oak and Me"

About the Author

Students at D. P. Timony Grammar School love The Mighty Oak and Me:

The Mighty Oak and Me is a book that has been taken into the hearts of children, adults and teachers everywhere. Some were kind enough to show their gratitude with letters, drawings and reviews on major online book sites. Every review is appreciated, positive or otherwise, and it's obvious that the best deserve a special place on this site.

So please read on and take a look at some of the comments. In a time where online education is so accessible and we can even earn degrees through the web, children are still getting their kicks out of books like this and it's fantastic to see literature taken up so readily in the classroom. A thank you to all who responded to The Mighty Oak and Me.

Readers also have great things to say:

"This is a terrific book.  It is a fun and easy read and perfect for anyone hoping to get a child in their life to read.  It's a great book to read together too.  It (perfectly) lacks all of the things that often frighten off new readers - it's not too long, each page is easy to read, and it quickly draws you in and keeps you interested.  I highly recommend it.  Me and my 9 year old loved it.  Now my 13 and 11 year old are lined up to read it to know what we're talking about."  - Brian, Lowell, MA

"This is a very enjoyable book about a tree and the amazing things it provides for the residents of its neighborhood.  Written in a conversationa style and illustrated with lovely photographs by the author, the text poses questions that encourage readers (or listeners, for younger children) to think for themselves and make connections with prior knowledge..."  Lauri, Providence, RI  - for the rest of this review, please go to Amazon.com

Teachers across the country are excited as well:

"I believe this book should be in every primary school library!  It is enchanting and informative." - Nora Lynch, Elementary School Teacher, Maryland

"What a wonderful way to introduce nature into the curriculum.  It's very interactive and I like that!" - Sandy Drees, ParaEducator, Washington

"Children will read, learn and come away with a new appreciation of this introduction to nature.  I will certainly use it in my classroom."  - Lynn Drayzen, M. Ed., Elementary School Teacher, Massachusetts
